Small Works Show

                                                           At The Egyptian Room
                                                                       5x7 oil
                                                                         200.
This painting took its inspiration from a recent trip to Paris where I spent Sunday looking at not only the great art, but also at the people studying it! A double bonus!

This painting as wells as several other of my small works will be on view at the Levey Gallery on State Street in Portsmouth, NH as part of their Holiday "200. and under" show. I will also have another two larger paintings on display in their Main Salon.  This show runs from Dec. 1 thru Dec. 31 with an opening reception on Friday Dec. 3 from 5-8 pm.  The opening coincides with Portsmouth's Art Around Town Artwalk, a fun and festive event.  Stop in if you can make it!

The Lobstermen Series

                                                                       Strong Back
                                                                 4 x 6 Oil on Panel
                                                                            175.

I am fortunate to live on the coast and often catch the lobstermen  unloading their daily catch. I have done many paintings of them and never tire of it, so from time to time one of the series will pop up here.
This was one of the studies done for a larger painting I have been working on in the studio this week. I will publish it when complete.  They are hard workers and do have to have strong backs...and great shoulders!

                                                          Wind Dancer  8x10   SOLD

Just finished with our open studios today where this painting of Wind Dancer sold among others.  Was so nice to get such a lot of great feedback on my art and meet so many nice people. Very interesting to hear how people respond to the work. Alot of  fun.

Beach Walkers

                                                             The Beach Walkers
5 x 5 oil on gallery wrap canvas
                                                                     200.
This painting was done during our very short but beautiful summers here on the coast of Maine. It is on a gallery wrapped canvas where the sides of the canvas continue the painting and it can be hung without a frame or free standing on a flat surface. Oh... the memories of warm walks on the beach.

for information on purchasing this work email ksmbythesea@aol.com

About this painting: This was also done from inspiration at the farm in Tuscany called Spanocchia, where aside from being a retreat for artists of all kinds, they teach interns from all over the world about how to raise meats and process them into sausage, prosciutto, and all other types of of prepared foods and cuts of meats.  The guy on the left was a local butcher who came to the farm each day to work with the interns often arriving with a whole pig in his refrigerated truck!

This work has just been juried into the NH Art association's 11th Annual Joan Dunfey Memorial Show which will be hanging at the Levey Gallery on State St. in Portsmouth Nh, form Nov. 3 - 26th. There will be an artists reception on Fri. Nov. 5th from 5 - 8.  Come if you can and see this along with other fine art from local artists!

Siamese Stroll

5x7 oil on panel
200.
I recently returned from a painting trip to Tuscany where I stayed on a farm for a week.
There were many cats roaming about  (probably good hunting) and this was one
of the two Siamese  among them.  Their coloring is so beautiful I had to paint this one.
