In the end I think I accomplished what I set out to do and it was such a great way to spend an afternoon! Lucky!
My plein air set up at a cemetery in Dover NH. For some reason they had the most brilliantly colored foliage! As you can see from the finished piece, I chose to leave out the headstones, not sure I would want to look at them everyday. Great place to paint though, very quiet, just the sound of the wind blowing the leaves, typical fall day in New England.
This was another painting of the model from my Tuesday group at the studio. It is so helpful to be able to do these small painting from life and to be able to study the skin tone and postures. Occasionally I will do a larger one in the studio from these studies and reference photos.
This is the painting that was accepted into the Randy Higbee Gallery 6x6 show in CA. I just sent it out today. Again, this is the model Tamara who I have been painting lately. This painting will be available for sale through the Gallery. I have been working on small panels, 6x6 inches in anticipation of an upcoming show at the Randy Higbee Gallery in CA. There was a limited number to submit and this was one I chose to keep out of that show. I have been painting this model, Tamara, for the last several weeks and have a few paintings
I will put on here including the one that got into that show. Usually I would work on one small like this one and a large one which I would finish up after the session in my studio. It was interesting to work on it after she had left, just from memory and trying to just make a good painting rather than a total likeness of the model.
This painting was done from a series I had done of people shopping. This particular guy was in Milan outside one of the shops, waiting calmly while the dog was a little more anxious. I tried to capture the contrast in their postures as well as the wonderful colors of that scene.
I tried to publish this one for Valentine's Day but somehow it didn't show up yesterday. I was trying to stretch my imagination for different types of subjects for the couple series. This one came easily since the candy was right there in front of me. I liked the glow that the silver one took on from being next to the red. Reminded me of a blush.Kathy Morrisseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02184119444660336302noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5250950988391778636.post-90087195821006765652011-02-15T05:37:00.000-08:002011-02-15T05:37:40.590-08:00Another Couple

Stop In The Name Of Love
Another small painting from the couple series. The color on this piece is showing as a little more sepia in it than there actually is in this photo. The original piece has more blues in the shadows and background. I will post it again after I tweak it on i photo. Fun subject to paint!
I love to work in series as far as subject matter goes, especially figurative paintings. This is one from about a month ago when I was working on a shopper series. I was in Boston on Newbury Street one Saturday concentrating on the postures of the shoppers walking by. I have an endless supply of subjects
to paint. More later.
Another of the "couple" series. While I was traveling in Italy I was taking lots of photos for future paintings. I took a lot of shots of couples with this series in mind. This couple I spotted while in front of the Duomo of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore at he Piazza del Duomo in Florence. Such a romantic place!
